Remember Monty and Rose?

They have returned! The piping plovers Monty and Rose have returned to Montrose Beach in Chicago and have again nested and now have four chicks hatched as of June 18. This is only the second time in recent years to have these endangered piping plovers nest on a Chicago beach. To protect these rare birds on a popular beach the Chicago Park District has approved a rotating group of bird monitors to protect the area surrounding the nest site.
