VOLUNTEERING

It's a Team Effort

What makes the DuPage Birding Club work for so many people is the effort that our many volunteers contribute.  If you would like to consider helping the club and your fellow birders, ask about volunteering.

For new members, volunteering is a great way to meet other birders and to learn from their experience.

Maybe you would like to serve on a committee, lead a field trip, serve on the board - whatever your interest, it's likely there is something you can do to help.  Maybe you know someone who could speak at a meeting, or maybe you have a particular skill you could share.

To get started, simply contact us, let us know you're interested, and someone will follow up with you.

WANTED: Outreach Participants

The Outreach team actively seeks volunteers to call on to participate in Outreach activities.  In an average year, the Outreach program manages one program a month so you may be asked to engage maybe two or three times a year.

The Outreach program responds to requests from the community to share our birding knowledge with special groups who want to learn more about birds. For example, you might:

  • Represent the club at an event like Wild Things, Gull Frolic, Forest Preserve events, or International Migratory Bird Day, among others. We usually sponsor a table, share information, and answer questions. You don’t have to attend all events, just find folks to staff them.
  •  Lead a field trip for a group, which has included primary school children with their parents, a library-sponsored event, a senior citizens group, and others.

This is a great chance to share your love of birds with the community and help our club fulfill its mission of helping DuPage County residents.
