DBC at the Danada Fall Festival October 7 and 8

The DuPage Birding Club is excited to participate in the Fall Festival, the Forest Preserve District's largest event. Held at Danada Equestrian Center, festivities will include equestrian performances and demonstrations in the outdoor arena, wagon rides, children’s activities, barn tours, and more.

As part of our Outreach program, DBC will host two booths in the shade of two giant oak trees adjacent to the Danada Native Display Garden. One booth will feature activities for kids. On Saturday we will discuss how to identify local birds by eye and by ear and will look for birds in the Native Display Garden. Sunday's theme will be kid-friendly owl activities.

Visitors will learn interesting facts about owls and hear some of their sounds. Want to try drawing an owl? Making an owl craft? Putting together a challenging puzzle? Then come to the DBC table on Sunday!

Visit our second table to learn 7 Simple Actions you can take to help birds. In 2019, scientists documented North America’s staggering loss of nearly 3 billion breeding birds since 1970. Helping birds can be as simple as making changes to everyday habits. Here you can also learn about Chicagoland bird monitoring efforts led by the Bird Conservation Network.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED: If you’d like to spend an hour or two to staff one of our tables, please contact Donna Kubik at donna.kubik@gmail.com. We could use your help!
