SAVE THE DATE: Christmas Bird Count on December 14

Join us again for the annual Fermi Christmas Bird Count on December 16th. This is your chance to contribute to an important community science opportunity. Data collected provides invaluable insights into winter bird populations plus it's a great opportunity to connect with fellow birders. If you participated last year, you're already on the list and will be contacted in early December regarding your counting areas. If it's been a few years, or you are new to the count and would like to participate, please contact the compiler, Jeff Chapman at jeffchapman948@gmail.com. Remember you'll be grouped with a team so no need to be an expert; there will be plenty of them on your team! This year's countdown dinner is TBD at this point.

Mini-tutorial covering some birds you might find along the more open, rural DuPage County roadsides in winter: Snow Bunting, Lapland Longspur, and an all-year resident species, the Horned Lark. DBC Paintbox rolls out for budding bird artists

The DBC Outreach team is pleased to introduce DBC Paintbox, a color-by-number series of bird images that guides the budding bird artist in bringing a beautiful bird image to life. The drawings are highly detailed, which helps the artist learn the parts of the bird. Many birders practice drawing birds to force themselves to look carefully at all parts of the bird. The first three birds in the Paintbox series are American Goldfinch, Downy Woodpecker, and Mallard with more to follow. DBC to Exhibit at Wild Things 2021

DuPage Birding Club will be a virtual exhibitor at the all-virtual Wild Things Conference 2021, which will be held over two weekends - Part 1 February 19-21 and Part 2 February 26-28. This biennial conference features workshops and presentations from regional and national experts plus videos, exhibits, and opportunities to connect with like minds in the community. Topics cover nature and conservation topics that are germane to the Chicagoland region.
