LEARN ABOUT BIRDS
Outreach Programs
We love to share our passion for birds with our friends and neighbors in the community. We present programs and lead field trips for a range of special interest groups and can tailor content to meet your needs.
If you would like to engage us for a community outreach program for your organization, please contact us . We hope to hear from you!
Group Presentations
We offer introduction to birding presentations to small groups who have an interest in learning more about birds. Presentations can be customized and tailored to the interests of the audience. Our club members have a wide range of expertise in bird-related topics that they enjoy sharing via group presentations. Topics include Bird Identification, Hawks, Hummingbirds, Shorebirds, Nesting, Migration, Spring Birds, Autumn Birds, Bird Adaptations, Backyard Birds, Attracting Birds to your Garden, Birds of DuPage County, Birding Across Five States, Birds of Thailand, Birds of Scotland, Birds of Costa Rica, and more.
If you don’t see the birding topic you are interested in, please inquire! It is very likely we have a member who can help. Presentations may be remote or in person, depending on your preference and current CDC regulations.
Outreach Field Trips
We will lead a birding field trip for your organization. Experienced trip leaders introduce your audience to the birds we see.
We also offer field trips for special groups. These include beginning birders, libraries, scouting groups, schoolrooms, senior centers, special recreation groups, and other special interest groups. Binoculars will be provided along with instructions on how to effectively use them to view birds. Just ask! We will do our best to accommodate your group and provide them a rewarding field experience.
Special Outreach Events
DBC exhibits at special events around Chicagoland to educate the public and share our love of birding. We have participated in events such as World Migratory Bird Day, Gull Frolic, Wild Things, and most recently the Aurora Pollinator Festival. If you’d like to see what it’s like to volunteer for such an event or if you are hosting a conservation-oriented event, see the attached PDF on the Aurora Pollinator Festival. You’ll get an idea of how we tailor our message to the event theme and interests of the expected participants.
