Field Trip to Magee Marsh Highlights Migrants

On May 7, 21 DuPage Birding Club members trekked to Ohio and the famously birdy Magee Marsh area for what became a grand four-day adventure. They tallied 119 species, not only coveted warblers like Blackburnian, Kirtland's, and Prothonotary warblers but also Least and American Bittern, Black-necked Stilt, Dunlin, nesting Osprey, and more! Over the four days, the group visited Magee Marsh, Howard Marsh, Metzger Marsh, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, and Oak Openings Preserve. DBC to Exhibit at Wild Things 2021

DuPage Birding Club will be a virtual exhibitor at the all-virtual Wild Things Conference 2021, which will be held over two weekends - Part 1 February 19-21 and Part 2 February 26-28. This biennial conference features workshops and presentations from regional and national experts plus videos, exhibits, and opportunities to connect with like minds in the community. Topics cover nature and conservation topics that are germane to the Chicagoland region.

Mini-Tutorial: Female Diving Ducks

  The DBC Board is pleased to present Mini-Tutorials on the DBC YouTube Channel. Mini-tutorial covering females of the nine species of diving ducks we can find in DuPage County, with the Hooded Merganser representing all three merganser species of our area. While the males of these birds are often easier to tell apart, it’s a fun challenge to learn the distinguishing details of the females. 2021 Members’ Night Call for Presenters: Show Us What You’ve Seen!

The DuPage Birding Club’s annual Members’ Night is back! It will be via Zoom on Thursday, March 11, 2021, and all DuPage Birding Club photographers are invited to share their favorite bird photos and stories with fellow members. The photos can be from any birding location-and all levels of photographic expertise will be enjoyed by club members. Each presentation is limited to 10 minutes, so please be very selective and limit yourself to 10 to 15 images to share. We will only have time to show approximately 10 presentations.
